With over 20 years of clinical experience in the field of nutrition, and a lifetime involvement in dance and bodywork, it’s safe to say that I’ve got most bases covered.

After graduating with a distinction in Nutritional Therapy my continuing studies drew me to explore the many and varied fields of nutrition and health. In the early years I studied the revolutionary concept of Metabolic Typing® in which I qualified as a certified practitioner. I also qualified as a tutor in adult education and I spent 6 years lecturing in Nutrition, Anatomy and Physiology and Integrated Health Management. From roots in Naturopathy I now practise using a Functional Medicine evidence-based approach. I hold an MSc in Personalised Nutrition from CNELM/Middlesex University where my research thesis focused on the role of the intestinal microbiome in Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis. My research interests include the microbiome with a focus on gastrointestinal health and its impact on all body systems, and autoimmune disease.

As is the case with many young girls, my formal bodywork training began with ballet, at a young age. However, unlike like many youngsters my passion for the body and movement persisted beyond my younger years. I spent much of my early 20s attending a variety of classes at Pineapple Dance studios where I was introduced to both yoga and Pilates. I undertook my initial formal Pilates mat and machine training under the tutelage of the legendary Alan Herdman. Since then I have trained with many other esteemed teachers including Lynne Robinson, Karen Clippinger and Elizabeth Larkam. In addition to Pilates I am also a qualified Garuda® Apparatus, Barre, Foam Roller and Brick teacher and I continue to study the technique under the guidance of Garuda’s founder, James d’Silva.

One of the aspects I love about my job(s) is that it’s a work-in-progress. As a teacher I also consider myself to be a perpetual student. Living in London certainly has its benefits with its convenient access to cutting-edge workshops and seminars. As someone with a thirst for knowledge it’s thrilling to be on the receiving end of the latest nutrition research and advances in bodywork. It’s equally as exciting to be able to apply that information to my clinical practice as well as in the studio. I consider myself very lucky to be able to combine my clinic work successfully with my passion for bodywork. I guess you could say I have the dream job(s).
